Umbilical Hernia

Umbilical Hernia is a congenital malformation among newborns caused during fetal development when the abdominal organs develop outside of the abdominal cavity and later returning to its proper location through the umbilical opening.

This malformation usually corrects itself within 2-3 years of life, although surgical treatment has been required in a number of cases. Umbilical hernias are most common amongst infants of African descent.
