Proteus Syndrome is a congenital disorder resulting from gene mutations that cause the overgrowth of skin, bones, fatty tissues, muscles and blood vessels. PS is progressive with age, and children born with it often show very little signs of having it at birth.
Symptoms include asymmetrical growths, pain of the soles of the feet, muscle pain, arthritis, cognitive and social deficits, the possible development of tumours and premature death.
