Bardet-Biedl Syndrome is a genetic disorder characterized by obesity during infancy and throughout adulthood, mental retardation, night blindness, learning disabilities, webbing of fingers and toes, reduced sense of smell, behaviour and performance problems, speech impediments, cardiovascular issues, hearing loss and developmental delay.

The cause of BBS is still fairly unclear, but biologists have confirmed that twelve specific genes are responsible for the formation of BBS when mutated.
