Aicardi Syndrome is a rare genetic syndrome wherein a major component of the brain called the corpus callosum is either partially or completely absent. This syndrome is mostly found in females, and can cause seizures and retinal abnormalities. It has been suggested that Aicardi is caused by a defect in the X chromosome, and has only been observed in children suffering with Klinefelter’s syndrome.

The gene that causes Aicardi has yet to be discovered.
