According to Statistics Canada, average Canadians are drinking up to one fifth of their total recommended daily caloric intake. Kids and teens are drinking approximately 400 calories a day! A recent article in Men’s Health explains that people could lose up to 40 lbs in one year just by changing what they’re drinking!

The following is a list of drinks and their caloric amounts, all based on 12 ounces of liquid:

Soda: 124-189

Orange Juice/Apple Juice: 157-175

2% Milk: 183

Coffee with cream: 43

Red bull: 160

Gatorade: 94

Red wine: 125

White wine: 122

**And if you drink hard liquor, that’s 96 calories per 1.5 ounces!**

How can you avoid drinking away your daily calories?

Opt for diet soda, and drink lots of water instead! Water is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, and it is recommended that adults drink at least four glasses a day. Water also aids with digestion, helps reduce bloat and water weight, and also cleanses your system.
