Diastasis – Vertical separation of the two halves of the abdominal muscles

Diaphragm – Muscle across the top of the stomach and below the lungs

Dilation – The opening of the cervix during labor to allow the baby to pass through

Dystocia – Slow-progressing labor

Endometrium – The uterus lining where the embryo gets nutrients

Electronic Fetal Monitor – Used to record the heartbeat of the baby and mothers contraction’s

ENG – The baby’s head is engaged passed the pelvic brim

Episiotomy – A small incision made to the skin between the vagina and the anus to speed up delivery.

Failure to progress – A slow or stopped delivery

Fetus – Term for the unborn baby

FH – Fetal heart

FM – Fetal movements

Fundus – The top of the uterus

Gestation – How far along the pregnancy is

Gestation Diabetes – Diabetes that usually develops during pregnancy

HCG – Human Chorionic Hormone, used to detect pregnancy

Hyperemesis gravidarum – Severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy

Hypertension – High blood pressure

Hypotension – Low blood pressure
